Why is the room heated? What if I don't like the heat?

Yoga helps to change the construction of the body from the inside out. The room is intentionally heated to warm up the body and assist with circulation, promote detoxification and provide optimum conditions so that the change you want can happen more efficiently. It also allows you to work safely and deeply into the postures, giving faster results. The heat provides a challenging environment which increases your strength, concentration, endurance and stamina. The heat is definitely something that takes getting used to. Through regular practice, you will learn to tolerate the heat and use it to your advantage.

Can I practice Hot Yoga while pregnant?

Always consult with your physician, but most women can practice this yoga while they are pregnant. A regular yoga practice can make your pregnancy, labor, and post-partum easier than you expect. Just ask Hye Jin who has given birth to 2 yoga babies.

If you have had a regular yoga practice before becoming pregnant, we recommend that you relax and take a break during the 1st trimester. However, we welcome you back in your 2nd and 3rd trimester. Your teacher will help you with modifications for the poses. If you have never practiced the Bikram method before, we do not recommend practicing in the heat, but you are welcome to purchase a Yoga for Pregnancy DVD at the studio.

Why are the same 26 postures in the Original Hot Yoga class?

This series is designed to work through every system in the body. Cumulatively by the end of class, nothing has been missed, bones to skin, inside out, head to toes. Consider it a routine for maintenance of the human body. They were chosen with care to be accessible to any “body”. The idea being that anyone can start this yoga where they are at. Just come as you are and begin the sequence. Over time you will see your progress as you change and the yoga postures do not.
